Waiting for the Signal
Agriculture seeding equipment has come a long way over the years. These two machines sit in the field waiting for instructions. The operators are in the tractors programming information into the computer systems. This direction ensure the equipment places the seed in the exact right spot. The speed of travel, seeding depth, crop type and amount of fertilizer are all taken into account when calculating for the best result.
In my opinion, seeding the crop is the most important part of the growing season. Farmers are successful when they seed into good soil moisture, the seed has good contact with the soil to germinate, the equipment places it correctly, and there are few weeds to compete with. It’s a hectic time of the year, and there is no time wasted to get the work done.
I love the smell of the soil in the air during seeding time. Seeing this equipment across the landscape is a sign of spring. It fills my soul with hope and gratitude as farmers work to reap their reward at harvest time in the fall.
