In today’s world, feeding cattle is done with tractors and not horses. But on this day my good friend, Geoff decided to hook up his team of Percheron horses to do the work. It was just like the good old days.
It’s not often that you get 3 matching red roan horses that work seamlessly together. They were a sight to see trotting through the snow, pulling the sled with the round bale, and rolling it out for the cattle to eat.
Triple Team Feeding is featured for January in the 2018 Cowboys, Horses & Landscapes calendar. It was a special moment in the pasture hearing the horses move through the snow, snorting occasionally while their driver talked calmly to them, and the cattle happily eating fresh hay in the background.
